entry 5

I really appreciated this article because it talked about how although it is good to specialize in the subject you are majoring in it is not good to become to close minded to learning about other things. People just focusing on one certain type of they could be losing out on the opportunity to excel as something else. An example of this is if you are good at football but when you come to college you give it up to take more time to study. You may be giving up having a possible career in football just to get in a few extra study hours. I think the biggest point that this article is trying to get across is to make sure that college doesn’t make you a person that devotes all their time to one thing. Be well rounded. When you are in high school you are very well rounded so you should try to keep that up when you go into college. If you have a major that lots of people are in a diploma isn’t enough to get you that good job anymore. If you do other things then just spend all your time studying though you will have much more success in the long run. If you play a sport don’t give it up, if you a social person still be the class president. Don’t let college change your life. You still should put time into schoolwork and studying just don’t make it your entire life. That’s what I think the article and speech were trying to point out.

  1. I agree with you. As an elementary education major, you can't just get your degree and get a job. You have to stand out of the ordinary crowd so doing other things and excelling in different things will help you get a job. Knowing this is helpful, but even if you do extra stuff doesn't promise you a job as a teacher. I think it is a good point that you should involve yourself in things you enjoy, not just school.

  2. I liked how you mentioned the part about skipping out on other activities just to study. You could be missing out on so much more than you think.

  3. I like how you mentioned people missing out on other parts of life. I also mentioned something like that in my blog. That's good that the article impacted us in similar ways.
